On a webinar with Professor Dave White today we got to draw maps on what online tools we use on the visitor resident scale and also try to map if we used it for doing more personal or more professional connections. On the screenshot below you see some of them. What became clear in the webinar is that the being able to map what you use different tools for might be a skill that could ad maye should fit in the digital literacy pyramid model below.

My reflection is that drawing a map of what digital tools you use and being able to reflect on why is really about digital literacy skills. “I can decide what I do where online”. I also reflected about that being a resident i a more urban frame work is about knowing where to go for the best food, the best cultural experience and being a visitor is about either doing what every other visitor is doing or taking a wrong path down a scary alley.

Super interesting an rewarding webinar.

Here are some readings I found that was really good from a university teaching point of view:
Bawden, D. (2008). Origins and concepts of digital literacy. Digital literacies: Concepts, policies and practices, 30(2008), 17-32.
Schröter, T., & Grafe, S. (2020, November). Digital literacy and digital competency of university teachers. A systematic analysis of frameworks. In Innovate Learning Summit (pp. 144-157). Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE).
