In this webinar Martin will be giving his perspectives on Design for online and blended learning and sharing experiences and examples from his extensive work at Open University. He will elaborate on what Learning Design is and how to consider aspects like student retention, active learning, collaboration, inclusivity, employability as well as translating learning analytics into pedagogical action.

Martin Weller is Professor of Educational Technology, in the Institute of Educational Technology (IET) at the UK Open University. He is currently the Chair of the Open Programme, the Open University’s flexible, multi-disciplinary degree which is the largest undergraduate program in the UK. 

He developed the OU’s first fully online course in 1999, which attracted over 15,000 students annually. He was the Director of the OU’s Learning Design programme and has developed a range of innovative courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and MOOCs. He is the author of The Battle For Open, The Digital Scholar, and 25 Years of Ed Tech and maintains a popular blog at blog.edtechie.net.
