Metamorphosis: critical open practice in a time of change.
This interactive webinar introduces the concept of Open Education to university staff, teachers, librarians, and administrators worldwide. Participants will discover how open education has evolved over the last 20 years in an ever changing world. We will look back on online interactions in which a feeling of idealism and excitement which was present. A time full of new opportunities – chances to make access to learning more accessibile and connected than ever before. Reflecting on the current state of play, the session will focus on the care and critical insight which are even more necessary now than in the beginnings of Web 2.0.
Teresa McKinnon is an open educator, and an award winning language teacher with a wealth of expertise in online delivery. Experienced in education management and course design in secondary and higher education, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT), Teresa has extensive experience of the integration of computer-mediated communication in learning design. She retired in January 2021 from her post as Associate Professor at the University of Warwick but remains active online @WarwickLanguage where she enjoys connecting educators internationally across sectors. She advocates open educational practices and is active in the areas of virtual exchange and open badges.
The webinar will be in Zoom. Make sure you have a webcam and a headset set up before you enter the room. At this point it is unlikely, but if you have not used Zoom before you can watch this film explaining how to join a meeting. To go to the meeting, click the “Go to event” button to the right. You will however not have to use camera or microphone if you do not specifically want to ask questions outside the chat.
