At the beginning of the course I thought I was digitally literate but this course has opened me up to many other tools and platforms that I would not have discovered on my own, the challenge was for me to find ways that I could incorporate the teaching in my own life. The course has and will continue to have a positive impact especially in work life, at first I was a bit apprehensive because I had no idea as to how the course could assist me in my work life and personal sphere. The aspect of PLN has inspired me to interact more with colleagues (librarians) from other campuses, cause what I have found is that it is always beneficial to work in groups and have people to bounce ideas off.

Technology is a great way to enhance learning because that is how millennials learn nowadays, I think it would be beneficial to try and convince lecturers that I work with to embrace technology through maybe conducting classes online or recording lecture sessions and loading them on the campus’s learning management system so students can refresh their memory around test/exam time. I think I will mostly use the tools that I have learnt for my orientation sessions with students and also the teachings to try and engage students so as to make the learning process interactive but I will need some help from colleagues just to make sure that I am on the right track.

The benefit for me was learning about all the different tools that we had to familiarize ourselves with every 2 weeks, I am happy to say that I will be using most if not all the tools in my professional practice. Tools such as Powtoon, Prezi and many others that I have had the opportunity to use will truly be beneficial for when I market my library and its resources. The benefit has been learning all this new knowledge and what I had found was during the course the topics were things that I had always heard here at work but never really understood for example problem based learning, pedagogues, blended learning etc. The challenge for me was sometimes not seeming to connect with certain topics as I could not see how it relates to me or my profession but because I had good facilitators and group members they tried to pull me out of my rut and help me find ways that I could implement the knowledge in my everyday work life which I am very thankful.
