- My own practice of teaching and educating students remains not so open due to the closed and strict university procedures and guidelines. This topic led me to reflect:
- Is it good to be an open educator and make your lectures available for everybody?
- Or is it better to be secretive and hide and keep your lectures and work? For the first time, I reflected that it can actually be good to disclose the materials to others and to make it open for everyone who is in the field and wants to learn. That would mean greater inclusion and more social diversity in education. It is good to have open textbooks, online textbooks that are free for students to use; open research, whereby research papers are made available online for free downloading; open data, that is, data open to anyone to use and reuse?
