Topic 5: Lessons learnt — future practice
My journey in ONL has come to an end. I’ve loved every minute of it. The new ideas learnt. The new friends from all around the world. And the confidence to take my newly learnt skills into this rapidly growing world of online education.
I have a few questions that I need to answer about my experience so here they are:
- What are the most important things that you have learnt through your engagement in the ONL course? Why?
The biggest thing I have learnt from my experience on this course is to never lose the importance and use of online socialisation and how it can totally transform a persons online educational experience.
2. How will your learning influence your practice?
I will be using everything I’ve learnt to enhance my current teaching LMS and also bank these ideas away for potential future use in an online course that I may create.
3. What are your thoughts about using technology to enhance learning/teaching in your own context?
If you’re not using technology to teach/learn, you are greatly shackling yourself and teaching/learning potential.
4. What are you going to do as a result of your involvement in ONL? Why?
I am going to explore the creation of my own online course. I see a need in my area of expertise and want to use the skills I’ve learnt to teach others.
5.What suggestions do you have (activities and/or in general) for development of eLearning in your own teaching or context?
- More online socialisation
- Normalising the use of webcams
- Creation of more visual engaging content
I will be forever grateful for my time on ONL. I wish to keep in contact with the friends and colleagues I have met. The world is very small place so who knows what may happen in the future!
