Thanks for joining me on Learnings Anew! I will use this reflective space to share my journey as an online facilitator and a life-long student of new learning spaces and learning ecosystems that the web now affords us.
My home is in Cape Town, South Africa but I am currently working out of Durban as CAO of the Educor group – a private holding company of over 8 private registered and accredited higher education institutions.
I first joined the Open Networked Learning Community back in 2015 as a student on the ONL151 iteration of the course and have been a facilitator on all of the iterations of ONL since then.
As a seasoned teacher of Mathematics and pedagogue, I developed a set of teaching skills that augured well for my students in the brick-and-mortar classroom. However, facilitating a group of students in an online learning space has required a myriad more skills, insights and literacies of me. And it is precisely those skills, insights and literacies that I wish to unpack here within select theoretical frameworks.
Join me on this journey to understand what it takes to facilitate and mediate learning online.
