Open Networked Learning (ONL202) pedagogical course: PBL group6 (Kinaz)
Online Participation & Digital Literacy
Promote Online Engagement
After investigation and discussion (PBL group6) perceive that cultural background, tools, student and teacher roles, and how to participate are the main factors that influence the intensity of online engagement. For me, the most important factor affecting performance in the online learning environment is cultural background and learning styles. Cultural and linguistic differences between students influence participation online(1).
Providing atmosphere where students are encouraged to ask questions, interrupt presentations, and use private chat will motivate students to express themselves.
Using the appropriate tools and technology for all different type of learners (visual, linguistic, audio, physical, solitary, logical and social) will combat loneliness of students and teachers.
The more digitally literate the teachers are, the more they’ll employ these skills in the online environment and support the teacher-student roles (2).
