Time went fast. Before I joined this course, the facilitator in my own institution mentioned to us: it worth to take the course. I fully agree with her after the journey with the ONL 212. I have learned quite a lot of things during the learning process especially with the PBL group 12. The learning process with the course broadened my views on teaching and learning and developed my skills in the on-line environment.

Here are some highlights:

·       For me, “life-long-learning” is more than the term now. It becomes a mission for a teacher. Before coming the course, “literacy” seems so far from me because of the institution I am working for. After learning the first topic, I realized that it is compulsory to improve my own digital literacy for delivering the qualified teaching and learning.

·       During the learning, I also realized that the teaching practices shall be strongly tied with the development of the theory. For my own practices, the teaching shall be guided not only by constructive learning theory but also by the cooperative learning theory. The latter requires the social skills such as effective communication, interpersonal and group skills. For the future teaching and learning in my own course, it is necessary to integrate these skills into the learning activities to reach the learning outcomes.

·       As a teacher, it is important to support students to build the trust and take the responsibilities in the on-line learning environment so that the collaborative learning can produce the innovations and creativities during the learning process. The social presence becomes more important than the teaching presence and cognitive presence at least during the teaching in my own field. This is one aspect that I need to put more efforts.

·       With the PBL group 12, I explored a lot of other materials and tried with different digital tools. I have learned a lot from teammates, Alastair, and David in terms of their knowledge, skills, and their dynamic thinking. Sometimes, we have trapped in some corners but, in the end, we co-created the results we all satisfied. The learning process was enjoyable. After every topic, I have been always thinking which the experiences that I can further utilize to my own teaching.

·       With the course I have continuously explored methods of the problem-based learning. I think the scenario corresponding to each topic was well designed so that the to-be-learned contents, skills, and tools were exposed gradually during the learning process. The scenario also gave the learners flexibilities to produce the open-end products. I have been thinking how I can integrate this learning method into the teaching and the learning into my own courses.

·       Technologies is the most critical element in both on-line and blended learning. Before joining the course, I was quite conservative in using the technologies and digital tools. During the course, I have been trying with different tools with PBL group 12. I will keep practicing these tools and will integrate these tools into the teaching and the learning in my own courses. At the same time, I will also co-explore the technologies and tools with the students to support their digital identities.

During our group discussions and course discussions, it seems that a lot of questions are still with open solutions. The ONL course has been ended but the journey for further exploring the solutions of these questions just started.

Topic 5: Learning results and future practices
