ONL has changed my perspective of learning and teaching, if you looked at Elmore’s modes of learning framework and his four quadrants – Individual, Collective, Hierarchical and Distribute. Try to combine them and your alternatives as a teacher are endless (but follow the syllabus).

My experience of organizations/employers are that if you want to implement changes, patience is required. I sometimes see my work as a railroad car, it is rare that I can decide the direction, railroad or who steps into the car, but I can influence the content within the framework of the department’s pedagogical idea. To choose the way to do it.

After participating ONL course, I cannot go back, I must go forward. The knowledge I have acquired has changed my view of possible digitalizations in teaching and the PBL groups work has given me insights into ways of learning both individually and in collaboration.

How can I implement this practically in my role as a teacher? During ONL course I try Padlet together with my student, in preparation for a practical examination. I had written headings and they had to fill each heading with content what knowledge they needed to pass the exam and of course knowledge to be a nurse in the future. If I thought they were missing something important (My fault? Have I not been clear enough in my previous teaching?), I tried to ask an open question that made the students start discussing. I struggled throughout the process not to give any answers and the goal was that to make the students collaborate, discussing and agree what was important, and also find content through knowledge and references. The result at exam – 100%! This is just a small example and it’s a beginning.

I want to continue develop and learn. I try to participant on every education the university offers in digital tools until I know them well and can used them without uncertainty. I will try to continue to be flexible and think new. Maybe we can establish AI (artificial intelligence) when the student learning mathematics in context of medicine, AI sees knowledge gaps and knowledge level and adapts the teaching accordingly. In other areas the students need to collaborate more. I have discussed with my colleges how to improve the ongoing learning during the course? Group exercises that consist of scenarios that relate to the theoretical knowledge and the significance of the nurse’s action and why so?

What will my teacher style in the future be? Number 1 ENGAGMENT – and maybe a combine of instructor and mentor.
