With topic 5 came the task of reflecting on what has been learnt.
I unfortunately was booked off this week and on medication and therefore missed the Tuesday session.
I think that ONL is aiding the change in the digital learning environment. I think because of the ONL course I became aware of the concept of openness and becoming a resident in the online space. Concepts that one takes for granted because we are in the online space working.
Personally, I was a bit anxious when starting the course. However, I have noticed that I have moved from a Hierarchical Individual mode of learning where I used to transmit information and knowledge in the face to face space (Anonymous: n.d.).
In the current contemporary moment, I find myself now in the distributed collective mode of learning where my students collaborate using online tools in problem solving scenarios.
In my ONL group, I was rather surprised that the European Universities did not support their academic staff compared to how I received Training support and development.
What I will take from the ONL course is the ability to use various online tools to help me development better course content and online class content for students to achieve their outcomes collaboratively.
What I would see change about ONL is the focus on the practical aspect more because we all can read the theories about learning but I think ONL can be fast tracked to also accommodate sharing in a ‘community of practice’ and developing a learning design by the end of the course. We lecture everyday so why not put your groups learning design together.
ONL has encouraged me to do a online course through Udemy where I learnt more online learning tools https://e-learning.zeef.com/tracy.parish and many of my peers in my group used the ABC Model https://abc-ld.org/download-abc/ .
After completing this course, I believe that one must enter the course with an open mind.
