Our current practice for teaching children is using a incomplete blended learning support. The course is divided into two main parts, theory and practical lesson. The theory portion fo the course is online and student can do their learning during their own free time, however due to the age of the learners, sometime , teachers would need to be need to organise session where the content online is explained while they do their online learning.
There can be a better use of resources by have a more distince blended learning model as students who do their leaning online would be able to clear their doubt in the class with their teachers and peers. For my current course material there should be more area for student to have discourse and share their agreements or disagreements, As the course is very short, it is not easy for me to conduct any activity that would encourage group cohesion and create a sense of trust among the members, maybe what i can do is to have an online platform for the student to talk to each other or share their feeling and thoughts during the period between the theory and practical lessons. This platform would not only give the students a chance to express themselves but also encourage open communication among all member in the learning network.
At the moment there are very few opportunity for the student to brainstorm together or find information that would help them resolve content related question. I should look at activities that would allow the student to explore the topics that have been introduced to them. And after reading, I realised that I would also need to include more guided discussion in the course material.
