The start of this ONL course feels like a total mess. Since I was away without a proper internet connection (believe it or not- those places still exist) I really had no chance to catch up even though I tried to. I just had to tag along with the work the rest of the group decided to try not to mess things up for the rest of the PBL group. Sorry guys! I will try to ”re pay” you during the rest of the topics.
Anyhow the subject for the first week was quite a familiar topic for me since I have worked with online education in different ways for years now. Also I have studied different courses about learning and ICT aswell as being a student myself in online education earlier on. Still there is always new questions and reflections.
For me online participation is a part of my daily life both private and professional. Privately I use different social medias for contacts and information, I have a website for our kennel and a social media group for the people who owns our dogs. I am active in some clubs where I have developed breeders education online and we have had a blog for years where I have shared ny thoughts about different things in my sorounding world.
As a professional I also have used different kind of digital and online tools, like blogs for students and also written own blog posts. I have made different kind of videos; introductions, reflections on written papers and lectures. Used digital quizes, digital pin boards like Padlet and so on. I find it really fun, challenging and also sometimes really frustrating. Sometimes it is hard to get acceptance from the organisation to extend the use of digital tools and especially outside the ”digital tool box” of the organisation.
One of my responsibilities at work the last three years have been to coach collegues in develop their teaching strategies into more student active ways. There also use of digital tools and online learning has been a focus. Doing that I have realized that The Visitor and Resident metaphor is way more complex than I first realized.
To be continued…. work is calling!!
