University teachers’ general reluctance to share openly their teaching material has bothered me for years. I do understand why, but at the same time not at all. I understand (but I don’t want to accept) that research has a higher value than teaching within universities, and that teaching therefore must be given a lower priorityContinue reading “Too scared to share”

The video about creative licences was informative (Process Arts, 2011) to sort out how to make sure that my online material won’t be used in a manner that I didn’t intend. However, I’m not so concerned about getting credit so I’d probably just the CC0 …
The concept of open learning and MOOCs, before joining ONL202, was something that was completely new to me. Being introduced to it in this way was an eye-opening experience, and the below reflection is what I have taken away from topic 2: When this topic of “Openness” was introduced, I was very eager to understandContinue reading “Topic 2: Open Learning – Reflection”

For me the question about the openness of education and knowledge is a question of equality and a promotion of a common good. Coming from Finland, I have internalized an equality as a strong value. I see that education belongs to everybody and it is a way to build better society. In Finland, education has … Continue reading “Openness of education for a common good”
This reflection was inspired by our discussions in the group and partly co-authored with Jonas Widtfelter. It stems from an attempt to figure out the push for digital literacy across the board. The pressures...
The topic for this reflective text is Opennes in Education. I have thoroughly pondered upon it over the last two weeks. I started by examining the content of the word ‘open’ looking at how it is used in various idiomatic expressions. I found that many had a positive ring to them and nice images poppedFortsätt läsa “Open, Sesame!”
Of course being ‘open’ entails the idea of sharing and where would we be without sharing? Something I read or heard recently (sorry, can’t remember where) talked about how Wikipedia can only exist because individuals are prepared to share. No private (or even public) enterprise could ever create such an all encompassing ocean of content.Fortsätt läsa “Open Education & Open Pedagogy – where to start?”
