Design for online and blended learning – that´s topic 4 and the end of my ONL journey is in sight. But first we have to think about how we could convince the head of our department to keep some changes which were made because of the corona-time. That is the scenario for topic 4. Well in my case, as the programme I manage already is a blended learning concept, the head of my department doesn´t really have to be convinced of the concept itself. Nevertheless, there are things to be learned of this time. As we had to switch all our on-campus-times to online webinars, we can think about increasing the online-parts of the programme in general. This surely can´t be just transferring it from campus to a webinar. Even with all those interesting tools we got to know during the last weeks we have to think about a good concept to use them. And off course we have to consider which parts of the subjects can be taught online and for which the interaction in presence, the direct feedback and response of the students are crucial. But in my opinion that´s something we can and should manage.

The advantages for our students can be huge: As they mostly have to travel to the on-campus-seminars it would be more comfortable for them and decrease travelling time for example. But as networking also is an important part of the programme and it really is different to work in groups, talk during breaks etc. online versus in persona, the time on campus should not be totally left out.

As we don´t know at the moment when we can go back to teaching on campus and whether or when the next infection-wave will come I will keep a bigger online part in mind for the planning of the next semester.
