It all started about a year ago with a casual conversation about the future. My (seemingly never-ending) studies were quickly coming to an end and Ash wasn’t feeling particularly inspired in his (then) job. We both needed a change. After whittling the list down to a few sensible and realistic possibilities, I offhandedly suggested moving abroad. We agreed that Sweden was at the top of both of our fantasy destination lists and that we should have a go at the whole relocation thing.

Lo and behold, it’s now several fellowship applications, funding proposals, and migration supplications later and in just a few months time, we will pack most of our earthly possessions into storage; say goodbye to our families, friends, and flat; and take the proverbial dive into unfamiliar territory.
